Intellectual

I am enrolled in a Psychology class this semester, it is a fairly interesting class. But nothing I have learned thus far has interested me as much as the topic we are discussing now, which is Personality. I love taking personality quizzes, though they are not always accurate...in fact very few are acccurate. A test that we took in psychology the other day seemed to be the most accurate test I had taken.

The test consisted of 300 statements that you could either mark as being 'Very Accurate' 'Moderately Accurate' 'Neither Accurate, Nor Inaccurate' 'Moderately Inaccurate' 'Very Inaccurate'

After you have marked all of the 300 statements you are given a personality report based on the five factors of personality. The five factors are Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness to Experience. Each of these categories had around 6 Facets that were scored.

Extraversion: Friendliness, Gregariousness, Assertiveness, Activity Level, Excitement-Seeking, Cheerful

Agreeableness: Trust, Morality, Altruism, Cooperation, Modesty, and Sympathy

Conscientiousness: Self-Efficacy, Orderliness, Dutifulness, Achievement-Striving, Self-Discipline, and Cautiousness

Neuroticism: Anxiety, Anger, Depression, Self-Consciousness, Immoderation, and Vulnerability

Openness to Experience: Imagination, Artistic Interests, Emotionality, Adventurousness, Intellect, and Liberalism

If you know me well you can probably guess which areas I was high in, and which ones I was low and average in. After we received our results we were all comparing answers. I started talking to the girl behind me, she is a senior. She was looking at her results and she was mentioning the categories she had received 0% in, I hadn't received that in any, but she said that she got a 0% in Intellect. I was surprised at that until she made another comment, I'm going to quote this exactly:

Chelsea: "I got a 0% in Intellect"

Laurel: "Really, wow that's odd."

Chelsea: "Yeah, I don't even know what Intellect is!"

At this point I hit my forehead with my hand and burst out laughing, one of her friends was also laughing, she commented that that was probably why she didn't do too hot in that category. It was about the funniest thing that happened to me all week.

(For anyone who is sitting there reading this and thinking "I wonder what Intellect means?" because that is what my little sister asked when I told this story, you don't have to wonder any longer)

Intellect- capacity of thought or knowledge

P.S.: The name is technically the NEO-PI. We just remembered the "Big 5" categories with the acronym OCEANs.
