Yearbook Camp

So, right now, at this very moment, Andrea and I are sitting in 235 Blackington Hall, University of Pitt Johnstown. We are here with 6 other students on the Yearbook Staff at Bethel Park, and our Advisor. Andrea and I are having so much fun, it is awesome, we arrived yesterday around 1:30 pm. When we arrived we recieved a folder with a schedule of possible classes to take, and a packet about yearbooks, and a really shiny pen. We all looked through the schedule and chose the classes we were going to attend. After choosing classes we went into an opening seminar where they told us a bit about what we will be doing this week, and they gave us each a T-shirt. Then they took a big group picture of us in our identical T-shirts. After that it was dinner time, food here is pretty good, it's a bit hard for me with my diet, but i'll survive. After dinner, Andrea and I went to a seminar on 'Theme/Cover Creation'. Our school had already picked a theme, and we already designed a cover. So we didn't have to go to the seminar, but Andrea and I figured it would be interesting and the information could be useful for next year. And the seminar was very interesting.

After that seminar we went to another called 'Maximizing Personal and Business Ad Sales'. This seminar was interesting, but not as useful for Bethel Park, most of the people in the seminar were from schools that had a huge debt in their Yearbook fund, and were looking for ways to raise money. Bethel Park Yearbook is not in debt, we sell enough yearbooks not to worry about that, and we never even consider selling Business Ads to put in the yearbook. So while it was a bit interesting it was a bit pointless.

Next we went to a seminar called 'Experienced Yeartech Online'. We arrived late, because our last seminar ended late. So when we arrived there weren't any computers open, but that was alright, we just watched the teacher showing things. Andrea and I stood in the back of the room, and it was kind of entertaining watching other people being on sites that had nothing to do with the class.

After that we had free time, so Andrea, Amber (a girl that we had just met), and I stayed and went onto Instant Messenger, and talked to people, while checking our e-mails, and other things. After a while we had to go back to our rooms, so the three of us went back to Andrea's, and my room, and we hung out and talked for a while about lots of stuff. At 11:30 our schedule said to "Sleep Well" so we took that to mean we must be in our own rooms, so Amber went to her room, and Andrea and I stayed up talking.

We really didn't intend to be up so late, but we didn't fall asleep until about 4:30 am. It was great though, we talked and laughed non-stop, and we looked at our yearbook, and told stories and memories, and it was sooo much fun. I was so surprised that no one came to tell us to shut-up. We were being pretty loud, we tried to be quieter, but we weren't very successful. In the end we decided that someone would come and tell us to be quiet, or in the morning they would tell us we were annoying...but no one has....

So yeah, thats all I'm going to type for now, so you all can look forward to my next post being about Day 2 which I am living through right now!

Luv ya all!

I wonder if Sodexho does the food at Pitt Johnstown, too. Some people say they're evil; others say they're great. I'm keeping an open mind.
