Mississippi Day One

Saturday
February 11, 2006

Today is a traveling day. First we all met in the Pittsburgh Airport, all 17 of us. We were all so excited! We were talking aobut all the stuff we hoped to get accomplished. On the plane I started my homework...I didn't get much of it done...oh well maybe later. Our plane landed in Dallas Texas for our layover. We talked, ate, listened to music. Yes it was a rather uninteresting day, no working, and yet when we finally did arrive to Gulfport, MS we got off the plane and we were all a bit exhausted. We went to the baggage claim and received all of our bags...well not all of them... One of our bags was missing! It wasn't the most crucial bag, it had our work gloves, towels, and tennis shoes. We waited a long time as we filed paperwork for the bag to be sent to us when it arrived.

Then we drove in two separate vans to Robinwood Baptist Church, that is where our trailers were set up and in their social room we ate. We went straight into the social room when we arrived and we met the group of workers that had been there before us, they were leaving on Monday. and we met the people that were cooking for us. The Perkins family, they are so nice, I'll tell you more about them later. For dinner we had chili and hot dogs and lemonade, and a few other things I think, it was really good. Then we went to our trailers and claimed our beds, the trailers were double wide and really really nice, I expected horrible treatment...I was wrong. It was great. Then we were all tired and we went to sleep as we realized that even though it only said 11 on our watches it was really 12 in Pittsburgh!

Luv ya all!
