People Take it for GRANTED

Everyone pay attention, people take it for GRANTED...got that G-R-A-N-T-E-D , not GRANITE...granite is a type of rock...granted means inferred or presupposed, so do people take it for a rock...or do people take it as inferred or presupposed that something happens.

Lets think about that...hmmmm...I find this to be a very funny phrase, because everyone has been guilty, at one time or another, of saying take it for granite, because we speak so quickly and it all gets tied together and sounds the same, but right now I am setting the record straight, so everyone can follow my example and be sure to ennuciate granTed instead of saying granIte.

Luv ya all!

I only said "granite" when I was young because that's what my mother said (and still does). So I had nothing else to go on. But the phrase just sounded too weird to even be an idiom (and we learned about those in third grade). So I was utterly confused.

Then I learned better.

Yes, I haven't said Granite in a long time, but I think just about everyone in our family does...
