Poor Little Leah

My little sister Leah is five years old, she is in Kindergarten and she is very cute. On Friday my mom was out doing errands with a friend so she wasn't home after school. This wasn't unusual she is out running errands a lot. So I got home and went up to take a shower and wach out the remaining chlorine from my swimming class last period. After getting out of the shower the phone rang, knowing that I was the only one in the house I went over wearing nothing but a towel to answer it. This is how the phone conversation went:
"Hello?"
"Hello, is this Mrs. DeJohn?"
"Umm no, this is Laurel, can I take a message?"
"Leah missed the bus, is there anyway you can come and pick her up?"
I look down at my towel and then answer, "Yeah sure I'll be there in a few moments."

Of course it was not true that I would be there in a few moments, I was wearing absolutely nothing, and I can't drive. Running to my room I grabbed a skirt, flipflops and a shortsleeved shirt, threw them on, ran a brush through my hair and ran out the door. I started walking very quickly up the hill (and anyone who has seen me walk at my normal pace knows how truly fast my quick walk is,) on the way up the hill I saw steph get off the bus I told her that Leah had missed the bus, (which somehow she failed to notice, I mean honestly wouldnt u notice if your sibling didn't get on the bus?) then Steph ran to drop off her stuff at the house and then ran to catch up with me. Then still walking at a quick pace we continued up and down the many hills on the way to the elementary school. When we got there we buzzed in so that they would open the door and Leah ran over to us with Stephanies teacher, (whom I also had when I was in fourth grade) after making small talk with Stephs teacher we exited the building and went over to a bench. I sat down and Leah sat on my lap and hugged me while starting to cry, there were tear stains all over her cheeks.

Leah told me that she had been talking to a friend and had accidentally gotten in the wrong line and when she realized it wasn't the line for her bus, her bus had already left. That was all of the story she could remember, after a few moments of comforting I carried Leah home.

Since it was a nice day all of the neighborhood kids were outside playing. When Leah went outside one of the boys accused her of being sick, saying that was why she didn't go home on the bus. Leah came in crying telling my mom and I that he wouldn't believe that she missed the bus. Leah calmed down after a while and decided to go back outside and ride her bike, Leah is still using training wheels, and she is the only one on our street still doing so...and there are lots of kids younger than her. She started peddling down the street and that boy who had bugged her earlier came up asking why she was still using training wheels, after a few minutes of enduring questions I told the boy off and continued helping Leah when she needed it.

Poor Little Leah!

Luv ya all!

Sorry, bad links in my deleted comments...

Anyways, that is ridiculously cute...

I suppose even five-year-olds can have bad Fridays the Thirteenth!

Also, congratulations to you on your 1,000th hit on 17 January at 13:51 ET! It was someone from Lubbock, TX. What is it with these Texas people visiting our blogs?

Tell Leah that Grandma and Grandma B said to give her a hug from us.
